CCRO Tagum conducts Conference for Solemnizing Officers
Taking into account the importance of the solemnizing officers’ role in the celebration of holy matrimony and the registration of marriage certificate, the City Civil Registrar’s Office (CCRO) convened another set of Solemnizing Officers from various religious sect in Tagum City last April 18, 2024 at AVR 5, City Hall of Tagum.
This initiative serves as an avenue not just to strengthen the partnership of CCRO and its stakeholders but also to keep the solemnizing officers abreast with the significant development of laws and regulations governing the institution of family as the basic unit of the society, and to discuss issues and concerns affecting the performance of the respective duties and responsibilities of the Solemnizing Officers.
Among the agenda discussed in the said conference were the following:
Salient provisions of the Family Code, Civil Registration Law, Marriage Law and Responsibilities of the Solemnizing Officers which were clearly presented by no less than the 11th Judicial Region Tagum City Executive Judge, Hon. Jimmy B. Boco.
Emphasizing their crucial role in the celebration of the holy matrimony, Judge Boco laid down the civil, criminal and administrative liabilities that the solemnizing officers may incur for solemnizing a marriage without the required Certificate of Registration of Authority to Solemnize Marriage (CRASM) issued by the Office of the Civil Registrar General. Moreover, he reiterates the primordial responsibility of the Solemnizing Officers to personally register the marriage certificate with the CCRO.
2. Salient Points of the 2021 Implementing Rules and Regulations Governing the Registration of Authority to Solemnize Marriage with Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA Davao del Norte PSO Mr. Pepito D. Amoyen as Resource Speaker.
3. Tagum City eRehistro: “Your Civil Registrar Online”, Online Application of Marriage License, and Online Request of Printing of Marriage Certificate which were introduced by Acting City Civil Registrar Ms. Editha G. McCartney.
Ms. McCartney also underscored the importance of obtaining CRASM, jurisdiction of the authority of the solemnizing officers, and accuracy of entries in the Marriage Certificate.
4. Process and Requirements of Application of Marriage License and Registration of Marriage Certificate with Registration Officer III Ms. Maria Emelyn J. Race as Resource Speaker.
In conducting said conference, CCRO aims to improve the quality, accuracy and credibility of civil registry documents particularly the Marriage License and Certificate of Marriage so as to deliver excellent civil registry services to Tagumenyos.
