The Office of the City Civil Registrar and the Office of the City Muslim Affairs sought counsel from the 13th Sharia'h Circuit Court

In strengthening the proper implementation of Civil Registration Law and PD 1083 in Tagum, the City Civil Registrar's Office (CCRO) and the City Muslim Affairs Office (CMAO) went to Pikit, Cotabato last February 10, 2023, and sought the counsel of the 13th Sharia'h Circuit Court.

The Tagum delegation that were led by CCRO head Editha G. McCartney and CMAO head Jeanylyn Lopez conferred to Shari'ah Clerk of Court Amer P. Macalawi matters pertaining to Muslim divorce, conversion to Islam, and some other concerns that need clarification and simplification.

Moreover, the Sharia'h Court visit also aims to address and help provide permanent remedies to the perennial problems of late registration and the absence of it in Birth, Marriage, Death of Muslim Tagumenyos. These circumtances have usually caused various legal complications affecting their identities, as well as the legitimacy status of their children.
